Community Involvement

The Fort Collins Branch of AAUW has a long tradition of community involvement. A key focus of the branch has been the Poudre School District (PSD).  The branch was financially instrumental in the establishment of BASE Camp, a before and after school enrichment program. Branch members have been active in PSD programs such as Green Circle, tutoring, Reading for Fun, and equipment drives. In 2006 and 2007, Fort Collins AAUW participated in Make a Difference Day by reading to students at Irish Elementary School as well as donating books to the school.

In addition to education, the branch has been active in many environmental issues and projects such as the Poudre River Project and Families and Work Conference. In 2007-2008, Fort Collins AAUW will be working with BASE Camp providing the Hands Are Not For Hurting Program.

The branch builds relationships with groups serving youth and works by volunteering and providing financial support for community projects, such as the annual Young Women's Journey Conference.
